In 1993, Ralph Donsky nearly lost his life due to two severe
illnesses. He resolved that when he recovered he would use his
love of magic to entertain children who were ill in hospitals. After
performing magic shows for children and adults in hospitals for
eleven years, he started a Laugh Doctor Program in 2006, which
became the Hospital Smiles Clown Program, to spread cheer to
children in hospitals on a larger scale. Since its inception as a
nonprofit organization, the focus of this program has become the
"Clown Noses & Smiles Program." This program is dedicated to
"prescribing smiles for children and adults who are ill in
hospitals."

Beginning in 2006 at Tucson Medical Center in Tucson, AZ, the
Hospital Smiles Program has given clown noses to children who
are patients in Pediatrics. After placing the clown nose on the
child or adult's face, a hand mirror is used to show them what
they looks like wearing the nose. This almost always guarantees
smiles for the patient and also for the siblings and parents.

The Clown Noses and Smiles Program has a vision of donating
clown noses to children and adults who are being treated in
hospitals around the world. One clown nose at a time our goal is
to brighten the day of child or adult who is ill in a hospital. If you
work in a hospital, or have a hospital in your community that
would like to participate in this program, please contact us.
